The Horrible Experience of Giving Birth in
Russia
Aside
from the overall failing health system in Russia, the real-life horror stories
from parents who have given birth there are influencing many pregnant mothers to
travel to the United States (via Los Angeles) to have their babies in 2016.
The Outdated Health System in Russia
All it takes
is a short look at reports from recent years to know just how terrible the
health care system is in Russia. For an expectant mother in the last half of
her pregnancy, it is devastating to think that there could be complications (caused
by hospital conditions) during the delivery of her newborn baby. An interviewed
lady from the Los Angeles Times once referred to the hospitals in Russia as
still being in the Middle Ages. It is no wonder those who can afford will be looking to be in a nice Los Angeles hospital where the maternal care
centers are ten times healthier and much more helpful.
The horrible
health care centers in Russia are not anything new. There have been many people
as far back as the 1970’s who have taken record of how badly taken care of
patients are in Russia, notably pregnant women. For example, Maria Arbatova, author
of a vivid book entitled “My Name is Woman” made her story about almost dying
while having a child in Russia known, even way back then. There have been many
mothers since the 1970’s who have spoken out about their grim experiences when
having a child there.
Real Maternity Horror Stories in Russia
These days, mothers
who have had bad experiences in Russian hospitals (whether it was because those
foreign medical facilities were understaffed or unsanitary) make them known on
the internet. For example, one brave woman named Annie Pikulina wrote down a
list of terrible occurrences she endured during her maternity care in Russia
(such as the fact that she could not have her husband in the room with her
while giving birth) and talked openly on YouTube about it to the public. Blogs
such as Global Voices are home to posts such as one in particular entitled
“Russia: Blogger Memories of Soviet Maternity Hospitals”. In it, women share
their mortifying stories, such as ones pointing out that no women’s underwear
was allowed or others tales that compared their modern-day childbirth experiences
to deliveries that went on during past wartime situations.
It has
become easier today for mothers to relocate to places like Los Angeles,
California in order to have their child in a safer way. At Medical Voyage, we
are more than happy to make the transition from country to country as easy as
possible. You do not have to endure the horrific conditions of a Russian
hospital when giving birth to your new child. We can help you with everything
from attaining Visa’s to finding a comfortable Maternity Suite that’ll be just
for you, and make your childbirth experience a much more pleasant one than in
places such as Russia.
